Broadcom Inc. announced on January 28, 2025, the release of its new Emulex Secure Fibre Channel Host Bus Adapters (HBA), marking an industry-first in quantum-resistant network encryption. This solution is designed to encrypt all data as it moves between servers and storage, offering a cost-effective and easy-to-manage approach to data protection. The Emulex Secure HBAs provide several advantages over application-based encryption, including preserving storage array services like deduplication and compression, which are often lost with other methods. Crucially, this technology enables real-time ransomware detection, a vital capability as ransomware attacks continue to rise. These HBAs are compliant with government mandates such as the United States’ Commercial National Security Algorithm (CNSA) 2.0 and the European Union’s Network and Information Security (NIS) 2. Available in 1, 2, and 4 port configurations for 32G and 64G, the Emulex Secure HBAs are shipping now, providing a robust solution for modernizing IT infrastructures with post-quantum cryptographic encryption algorithms and zero-trust architecture.
