Airbnb officially launched a redesigned app and introduced new businesses as part of its 2025 Summer Release, marking a significant strategic pivot beyond its core accommodations. The company plans to invest $200 million to $250 million in 2025 to launch and scale these new offerings.
The reimagined Experiences offering and new guest and host services debuted in 260 cities worldwide. The updated app now features a dedicated services tab, allowing users to book offerings such as catering, spa treatments, and personal training sessions during their rentals.
CEO Brian Chesky stated that the app was rebuilt from the ground up on a new technology stack to innovate faster and support a wider range of offerings. The ambition is to launch one to two new businesses annually, each with the potential to generate $1 billion or more in incremental revenue at scale over several years.
