AECOM announced today that it has been appointed as an ecosystem delivery partner for VolkerRail as part of the Southern Renewals Enterprise (SRE) for Network Rail’s Southern Region in the U.K. This region hosts approximately 700 million passenger journeys annually.
AECOM will undertake multidisciplinary design services, including topographical surveys, track, and electrical track engineering (ETE) design, along with project and engineering management services. The SRE model, introduced in April 2024, delivers Network Rail’s £9 billion renewals portfolio between 2024 and 2034.
This appointment reinforces AECOM's position as a top rail and mass transit design firm, leveraging its integrated expertise across railway design, maintenance, and delivery. The company will contribute to efficient and reliable track renewal outcomes, preventing delays and ensuring track safety and performance.
