Accenture announced a partnership with OpenAI that will give its more than 70,000 IT professionals access to ChatGPT Enterprise and the new AgentKit platform, enabling the consulting firm to embed advanced AI agents into client projects across finance, healthcare, public sector and retail.
The deal is a cornerstone of Accenture’s AI strategy, which has already seen the firm invest in Lyzr, Alembic and RANGR Data. By training a workforce that is the largest cohort of OpenAI‑certified professionals in the consulting industry, Accenture is positioning itself to deliver higher‑margin, stickier services and to accelerate the adoption of generative AI for its clients.
AgentKit, launched in October 2025, provides a visual workflow builder, connector registry and chat integration that lets clients design, test and deploy custom AI agents. Accenture will use the tool to automate routine functions such as customer service, supply‑chain planning and finance operations, giving clients faster time‑to‑value and deeper AI integration.
Following the announcement, Accenture’s shares rose 2.8% in pre‑market trading, reflecting investor confidence in the firm’s expanded AI capabilities and the potential for new revenue streams from AI‑enabled services.
Julie Sweet, Accenture’s chair and CEO, said the partnership “combines OpenAI’s breakthrough technologies with Accenture’s deep industry expertise and global delivery capabilities, accelerating enterprise reinvention and business outcomes for our clients.” Fidji Simo, OpenAI’s CEO of Applications, added that the alliance “will help the largest enterprises adopt AI faster, strengthening workflows and generating real economic value.”
Accenture’s partnership comes after a $865 million restructuring in September 2025 that realigned its workforce and cut costs. The AI focus is a natural extension of that effort, aiming to replace legacy processes with high‑value AI services and to capture a larger share of the growing AI market, which is projected to reach 16% of technology budgets in the UK’s financial sector alone.
The collaboration signals a shift in Accenture’s competitive positioning: by embedding OpenAI’s generative models into its delivery model, the firm can offer differentiated, high‑margin solutions that are harder for competitors to replicate, thereby strengthening its long‑term growth prospects.
