ADTRAN announced on April 8, 2025, that Colt Technology Services successfully completed a quantum-secured encryption trial across its metro and long-haul optical wave networks using ADTRAN FSP 3000 technology. The trial assessed the performance of both post-quantum cryptography (PQC) and quantum key distribution (QKD). The trial secured critical data traffic between Colt's London and Frankfurt sites, a distance of 1,361 km, and across three locations in London. This demonstrates the viability of quantum-secured encryption solutions in a multi-vendor, disaggregated environment. The ADTRAN FSP 3000 open optical transport technology, combined with Adva Network Security's ConnectGuard™ encryption solution, confirmed that quantum-safe encryption can be deployed across vendor-neutral networks. This physical layer encryption provides robust defense, ensuring low-latency, end-to-end protection without impacting network performance.
