ADTRAN announced on March 13, 2025, that the Turin and Piedmont Internet Exchange (TOP-IX) has launched Italy’s first time-as-a-service (TaaS) solution using ADTRAN Oscilloquartz technology. This service provides precise timing and synchronization to organizations across Italy and beyond, supporting sectors such as finance, healthcare, and logistics. Delivered in collaboration with Italy’s National Institute of Metrological Research, the solution leverages Oscilloquartz edge grandmaster devices, specifically the OSA 5410XG and OSA 5412, deployed across TOP-IX’s dedicated fiber network. These devices feature Syncjack™ technology for real-time performance monitoring, ensuring uninterrupted synchronization even against external threats. The TaaS offering provides a secure and reliable alternative to GNSS systems, making precision synchronization accessible and cost-effective for organizations that might find dedicated timing infrastructure expensive. The compact, cost-effective design and low-touch provisioning of ADTRAN's devices enable rapid service deployment and compliance with evolving PNT standards.
