Aduro Clean Technologies Inc. (ADUR) announced a multi‑year framework collaboration with ECOCE, A.C., a Mexican non‑profit environmental civil association, to advance the recycling of flexible plastic packaging in Mexico. The partnership will deploy Aduro’s patented Hydrochemolytic™ Technology (HCT) to convert post‑consumer flexible packaging into specialty chemicals and fuels, with the first commercial pilot slated to begin in January 2026.
Mexico generates roughly 1.5 million tonnes of flexible plastic packaging each year, a stream that is notoriously difficult to recycle mechanically. By leveraging ECOCE’s national packaging management plan and its network of member companies, Aduro gains access to local infrastructure, regulatory support, and a ready supply of feedstock, positioning the company to validate HCT at scale and capture a share of a growing market.
The collaboration marks a strategic expansion for Aduro beyond its U.S. operations. It broadens the company’s geographic footprint into Latin America and adds a new application for its water‑based chemical recycling platform. Successful deployment in Mexico could accelerate Aduro’s commercialization timeline, open licensing or joint‑venture opportunities with ECOCE members, and strengthen its competitive position against other circular‑economy players.
Aduro has faced significant financial challenges, reporting declining revenues and persistent losses in recent quarters. The partnership offers a potential revenue engine and a path to scale that could help the company improve its financial trajectory. Management views the collaboration as a critical catalyst for turning its technology into a commercial reality, while acknowledging the need for continued investment and operational execution.
"ECOCE is central to Mexico’s packaging value chain and our partnership will help transform a problematic waste stream into a valuable resource," said Ofer Vicus, CEO of Aduro. "By working with ECOCE, we can validate HCT under real‑world conditions and accelerate our entry into the Latin American market," added Adrián Velasco, Director of Flexible Plastic Packaging at ECOCE.
