Aeva Technologies announced a new high‑power semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) that delivers more than 28 dBm of output power while maintaining over 20 % wall‑plug efficiency at temperatures up to 50 °C. The SOA is engineered for co‑packaged optics and high‑bandwidth optical channels in next‑generation AI data‑center architectures, and it also supports advanced multi‑beam FMCW LiDAR systems for automotive and physical‑AI applications.

The amplifier’s performance addresses key challenges in data‑center and LiDAR deployments—power consumption, heat dissipation, and reliability at scale. By extending its vertically integrated photonics platform beyond sensing, Aeva positions itself to capture a broader share of the rapidly expanding AI infrastructure market while reinforcing its core LiDAR technology. The company’s VP of Photonics, Pradeep Srinivasan, noted that “the new high‑power SOA reflects Aeva’s deep expertise in photonics and semiconductor design and has the potential to enable a new class of scalable architectures across both AI data centers and FMCW LiDAR applications.”

Aeva’s financial trajectory underscores the strategic importance of the launch. In Q4 2024 the company generated $2.7 million in revenue, and its full‑year 2024 revenue reached $9.1 million. Management projected 2025 revenue growth of 70–100 %, targeting $15–18 million. The SOA launch is expected to accelerate that trajectory by opening high‑margin AI data‑center contracts, complementing the company’s existing automotive and industrial sensor businesses. The product will be technically validated at the SPIE Photonics West conference on January 19, 2026, where performance and reliability results will be presented.

Aeva also highlighted other strategic moves at CES 2026, including the Omni 4D LiDAR sensor and a partnership with NVIDIA for its DRIVE Hyperion autonomous‑vehicle platform. These announcements reinforce Aeva’s positioning across multiple high‑growth sectors and signal confidence in its photonics expertise as a foundation for future revenue streams.
