Ainos, Inc. has announced a relocation of its U.S. headquarters from San Diego to Houston, Texas, effective early 2026. The move is intended to improve operating efficiency and to embed the company within Texas’s rapidly expanding technology and industrial ecosystem.

Alongside the relocation, Ainos will establish a wholly‑owned subsidiary, ScentAI Inc., a pure‑software entity focused on advancing the company’s smell‑language model (SLM). The SLM is a core component of Ainos’ AI Nose platform, which digitizes scent signals into machine‑readable “Smell ID” data that can be leveraged across industrial, robotics, and healthcare markets.

Chairman and CEO Eddy Tsai said the move “marks both a strategic return and a forward‑looking step.” He added that Houston’s deep talent pool and growing technology ecosystem will help the company accelerate AI Nose deployment and expand its ecosystem. Tsai also noted that “ScentAI is purpose‑built as an AI‑driven software company, and its business model directly complements our AI Nose platform.” He explained that the hardware generates high‑quality scent data, which ScentAI will transform into Smell ID and use to train the SLM, creating a data flywheel that fuels further product development.

Ainos has recently transitioned from a biotechnology focus to the Technology Hardware, Storage & Peripherals sector, reflecting its shift toward AI‑powered scent digitization. The company holds 123 active patents worldwide related to its AI Nose technology and has been operating at a net loss, with approximately $9.87 million in net debt as of September 2025. The electronic‑nose market is projected to grow from about $45 billion in 2025 to over $130 billion by 2034, a 12.7% CAGR, underscoring the strategic relevance of the company’s pivot.

The relocation and the creation of ScentAI are expected to accelerate the deployment of the AI Nose platform across key verticals. By positioning its U.S. operations in Houston, Ainos aims to tap into the city’s advanced manufacturing, energy, healthcare, robotics, and AI sectors, while the dedicated software arm will deepen the company’s data moat and enable faster commercialization of scent‑digitization solutions worldwide.
