On October 16, 2025, Akanda Corp. (NASDAQ: AKAN) and its 100% owned subsidiary First Towers & Fiber Corp. announced today a major network expansion initiative that will add up to 20 new cellular towers to its existing portfolio of 30 revenue‑generating towers and a 700‑kilometer dark fiber network in Mexico.
The expansion is designed to strengthen coverage and increase network capacity, thereby generating long‑term recurring revenue. By extending its tower footprint, Akanda aims to capture growing demand for mobile data and enterprise connectivity across Mexico, positioning the company as a preferred partner for national carriers such as Altan and CFE.
Financially, each additional tower is expected to drive incremental cash flow and enhance the company’s recurring revenue stream. The initiative supports Akanda’s broader strategy to diversify beyond cannabis and build a more stable, scalable business model in the telecommunications sector.
Chris Cooper, President of First Towers & Fiber Corp., said, “Expanding our tower network is a clear step in executing our growth strategy. Each tower has the potential to not only strengthen connectivity across Mexico but also increase our recurring revenue and reinforce our role as a preferred partner for Altan and CFE.”
