Astera Labs, Inc. announced a new portfolio of fabric switches, including the industry's first PCIe 6 switch, designed specifically for demanding AI workloads in accelerated computing platforms. This Scorpio Smart Fabric Switch portfolio is optimized for AI dataflows to deliver maximum predictable performance per watt, high reliability, and lower total cost of ownership.
The portfolio features two application-specific product lines: the Scorpio P-Series for scale-out PCIe 6 connectivity and the Scorpio X-Series for back-end, scale-up GPU clustering. These switches expand Astera Labs' Intelligent Connectivity Platform and integrate with the COSMOS software suite for enhanced data center observability and fleet management capabilities.
Scorpio Smart Fabric Switches are now shipping in pre-production quantities and have been rigorously tested with leading PCIe hosts and endpoints. NVIDIA's Senior Vice President of GPU Engineering, Brian Kelleher, stated that the new Scorpio fabric switch portfolio supports NVIDIA accelerated AI infrastructure deployments across various AI and HPC workloads.
