Alaska Air Group announced a record 110‑unit order for Boeing aircraft, comprising 105 new 737‑10 narrow‑body jets and five 787‑10 Dreamliners, and including options for an additional 35 737‑10s. The order also exercises all previously held 787 options and secures delivery slots through 2035.

The deal is a multibillion‑dollar investment that will modernize Alaska’s fleet. The 737‑10 variant is still awaiting FAA certification, while the 787‑10 is already certified and ready for deployment. The order’s timing locks in a steady stream of new aircraft as the airline scales its capacity.

Strategically, the purchase is a cornerstone of Alaska’s “Alaska Accelerate” plan and follows the 2024 acquisition of Hawaiian Airlines. The fleet expansion will lift Alaska’s total aircraft count from 413 to more than 475 by 2030 and beyond 550 by 2035, enabling the launch of new long‑haul routes to London Heathrow, Rome, Reykjavik, Tokyo Narita, and Seoul Incheon from Seattle.

Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci said the order “supports steady, scalable, and sustained growth” and underscores the company’s partnership with Boeing as a symbol of American innovation. He added that the new aircraft will help the airline serve at least 12 long‑haul destinations from Seattle by 2030.

The order strengthens Alaska’s position as the fourth‑largest U.S. airline, deepens its relationship with Boeing amid the manufacturer’s efforts to restore confidence, and positions the carrier to capture growing demand for international travel while maintaining a modern, fuel‑efficient fleet.
