Aeluma announced that it has joined the Midwest Microelectronics Consortium (MMEC), a national hub created under the Department of Defense’s Microelectronics Commons program to accelerate the transition of critical microelectronics technologies from research labs to domestic manufacturers.

The move extends Aeluma’s presence beyond its founding affiliation with the California DREAMS Hub and places the company in a network of more than 450 industry, academic, and government partners that receive federal CHIPS Act funding to strengthen the U.S. semiconductor supply chain.

Aeluma’s core offering is a scalable semiconductor photonics platform that combines compound‑semiconductor materials with large‑diameter substrate manufacturing techniques. The technology is positioned for high‑performance applications in AI hardware, electronic warfare, quantum computing, infrared sensors, and other defense and commercial markets.

Financially, the company recently closed a public offering that raised $25.4 million, boosting its cash balance to $39.2 million. In addition, Aeluma secured an $11.7 million DARPA contract to develop heterogeneous integration technology, underscoring its growing role in defense‑related semiconductor innovation.

Founder and CEO Jonathan Klamkin said, “Aeluma was a founding affiliate member of the California DREAMS Hub, and now expands its industry presence with the MMEC Hub membership. Our scalable semiconductor photonics manufacturing platform addresses the needs in multiple key DoD areas including AI Hardware, Electronic Warfare, Quantum, and Infrared Sensors. Building on our momentum with U.S. Government agency partners, we look forward to working with other MMEC members to accelerate deployment of disruptive technology at the forefront of American innovation.”

By joining MMEC, Aeluma gains access to prototyping and innovation hubs that can help move its technology from the lab to commercial and defense production lines, potentially accelerating market entry and strengthening its competitive moat in high‑performance semiconductor markets.

The partnership signals Aeluma’s commitment to advancing U.S. microelectronics sovereignty while positioning the company to capture new defense contracts and commercial opportunities in rapidly growing technology sectors.
