Allison Transmission is supporting Brazil's modernization of student transportation by supplying its T2100 automatic transmissions with xFE™ for Volare microbuses. These vehicles represent the first school buses in South America equipped with fully automatic transmissions.
The buses are part of Brazil's Caminho da Escola Program, aimed at providing safer and more reliable transportation for public school students, particularly those traveling long distances on unpaved rural roads. The municipality of Redenção in Ceará is among the latest recipients of these 4x4 Volare school buses.
Allison's fully automatic transmissions eliminate the need for manual gear shifts, simplifying operation on challenging terrains like mud, gravel, or steep inclines. This enhances driver control and reduces physical strain, ensuring students commute with comfort and quality, and marking a significant entry into a new market segment for Allison.
