Allison Transmission has been selected to provide its 3040 MX cross-drive transmission for all three Indian Government-funded original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) competing in India's Future Infantry Combat Vehicle (FICV) prototype program. This program aims to modernize the Indian Army's fleet of aging infantry fighting vehicles.
India intends to procure approximately 1,750 FICVs, which could represent a total revenue opportunity of several hundred million dollars for Allison over the next two decades. Allison has collaborated with each OEM to integrate and optimize the 3040 MX for their prototype vehicles.
The 3040 MX transmission, known for its reliability and electronic system controls, enhances the performance and functionality of the FICV prototypes. Allison's 15-year presence and planned manufacturing facility expansion in Chennai align with India's 'Make in India' initiative, further strengthening its position in the Indian defense sector.
