AMC Networks' international streaming service, Acorn TV, has greenlit a new crime drama titled 'Art Detectives,' with production now underway in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The series will star Stephen Moyer, known for 'True Blood,' who also serves as an executive producer for the project.
The six-part series will center on the Heritage Crime Unit, a police department focused on solving murders connected to the world of art and antiques. This includes investigations into Old Master paintings, Banksy street art, medieval manuscripts, and collectible vinyl.
The new original content is expected to debut in 2025 and aims to enhance Acorn TV's library of compelling mysteries. Expanding the content offering is a key strategy for AMC Networks to maintain subscriber engagement and attract new viewers to its targeted streaming services.
