AMC Networks announced it has acquired the remaining 50.1% of the BBC America joint-venture that it did not previously own, paying $42.0 million in cash. The transaction officially closed on November 1, 2024, granting AMC Networks 100% operational control of the cable network. This acquisition will result in the elimination of $132.9 million of redeemable noncontrolling interest related to BBC America from the condensed consolidated balance sheet. Additionally, the company's future contractual programming commitments to BBC Studios will be significantly reduced. With full ownership, AMC Networks will no longer make cash distributions to non-controlling interests, which is expected to enhance financial flexibility. This strategic move consolidates a key asset within AMC Networks' portfolio, allowing for more integrated programming and monetization strategies across its networks and streaming services.
