On October 25, 2024, Ameresco, Inc. announced a collaboration with the Roseburg Urban Sanitary Authority (RUSA) to implement a transformative energy program. This initiative aims to enhance the resilience, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness of RUSA's facilities, including its main office, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and Natural Treatment System. With Ameresco's assistance, RUSA was awarded almost $2.9 million in grant funds from the Oregon Department of Energy's Community Renewable Energy Grant Program for three projects. Ameresco will oversee the design, construction, and integration of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) across RUSA’s facilities. The project is guided by an Energy Savings Performance Contract (ESPC), guaranteeing energy savings and optimal system performance. This collaboration supports local economic development through job creation and the involvement of disadvantaged businesses, while also developing an energy education curriculum for the local school district.
