On May 15, 2025, Ameresco, Inc. announced the completion of a water infrastructure modernization project for the City of Cleveland, Texas. The project, which kicked off in 2024, is estimated to generate over $2.5 million in positive cash flow for the City over a 15-year term. The contract included the replacement and installation of failed meters, data integration of water meters, and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) components across the City. The new AMI system also features a customer portal for easy access and visibility of water consumption. The City of Cleveland anticipates significant operational savings by reducing the need for manual meter reads and re-reads, and eliminating truck rolls for move-in and move-out reads. The new meters are expected to increase accuracy from 90.7% to 98.5%, driving an estimated $6.8 million in water and sewer revenue recapture.
