On March 17, 2025, HSGS-Ameresco, LLC, a joint venture involving Ameresco, Inc., announced the successful completion of the $10.9 million Water Resiliency Microgrid Project at White Sands Missile Range (WSMR). A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held on February 26, 2025.
The innovative microgrid system integrates a 700kW solar photovoltaic array, a 500kW natural gas generator, and a 500kW lithium-ion battery system. It provides backup power to four groundwater wells, ensuring continuous potable water supply to the main post.
This project helps WSMR meet the U.S. Army's requirement of sustaining water and power for up to fourteen days without relying on civilian supplies. It enhances energy resiliency and operational readiness, supporting critical missions without disruption.
