Amazon Raises Fulfillment Fees for Independent Sellers

Amazon announced on October 15, 2025 that it will increase its referral and Fulfillment by Amazon (FBA) fees for independent sellers by an average of $0.08 per unit, a rise that represents less than 0.5% of an average item’s selling price. The fee increase will take effect next year, with sellers receiving at least 90 days’ notice. Amazon said the new fee structure is significantly lower than inflation and lower than the 3.9%–5.9% annual cost increases experienced by other major U.S. carriers over the past two years. The hike is part of Amazon’s effort to drive innovation and efficiencies that keep costs down, while generating additional revenue from its marketplace. The adjustment is modest relative to seller costs and is expected to have limited impact on seller profitability, but it will increase Amazon’s fee revenue stream.
