Arista Networks introduced its next‑generation R4 Series routers, a new line of high‑performance networking equipment designed for AI, data‑center, and routed‑backbone deployments.
The R4 family includes modular 7800R4 systems that support up to 576 ports of 800 GbE, fixed‑form 7280R4 routers with 32‑port 800 GbE configurations, and 7020R4 leaf switches. The series also introduces 3.2 Tbps HyperPorts and integrated security features such as TunnelSec.
The routers aim to reduce total cost of ownership, lower AI job completion times, and cut power consumption while delivering high performance and lossless networking for AI workloads.
Arista’s Q4 2024 financial results show revenue of $1.93 billion, a 25.3 % year‑over‑year increase, and a GAAP gross margin of 63.8 %. Approximately 65 % of revenue comes from cloud AI and data‑center solutions, underscoring the strategic importance of the R4 launch.
CEO Jayshree Ullal highlighted the company’s momentum, noting that 2024 was a record‑setting year with $7 billion in revenue. The R4 series is part of Arista’s strategy to capture the growing AI infrastructure market, which is driven by 800 GbE adoption and a 90 % five‑year average annual growth rate in the segment.
Some R4 products are already shipping, with additional models scheduled for availability in Q1 2026. Arista will report its Q3 2025 earnings on November 4, 2025.
