Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited (AOSL) today announced the release of its AOZ1390DI-01 and AOZ1390DI-02 ideal diode protection switches. These new devices are specifically designed for multi-port Type-C PD 3.0 current sinking applications up to 100W, targeting high-performance laptops, personal computers, monitors, and docking stations. A key feature of the AOZ1390DI is its Limited Power Source (LPS) functionality, which acts as a watchdog to disable a port if another port in the same system is faulty or damaged, preventing excessive power flow. This significantly mitigates risks in hazardous conditions and simplifies the design of reliable multi-port Type-C Power Delivery applications. The device offers Ideal Diode True Reverse Current Blocking (IDTRCB) protection and integrates a back-to-back MOSFET for low ON resistance and high SOA. With an input operating voltage range of 3.3V to 23V and support for up to 8A switch current, the AOZ1390DI is immediately available at a unit price of $1.40 in 1,000-piece quantities.
