On Monday, 2025‑09‑29, Ares Management announced that it had acquired 100 % equity interest in Meade Pipeline for approximately $1.1 billion. The deal was completed by Ares funds and was sourced from affiliates of XPLR Infrastructure, LP, a NextEra Energy affiliate.
Meade Pipeline operates a 180‑mile, FERC‑regulated natural‑gas line that transports gas from the Marcellus and Utica shale plays to demand centers in the Northeast, Mid‑Atlantic and Southeast via interconnection with Williams Companies’ Transco. The pipeline began service in 2018 and, after the 2022 Leidy South expansion, now has a gross capacity of about 2.3 bcf/day.
The acquisition expands Ares Infrastructure Opportunities’ portfolio of energy assets, adding a reliable, cost‑competitive asset that supports the firm’s focus on critical infrastructure. The 2.3 bcf/day capacity and strategic location provide a stable cash‑flow source that complements Ares’s broader investment strategy.
The transaction is part of Ares’s broader infrastructure strategy, reinforcing its commitment to investing in essential energy assets and positioning the firm to capture long‑term value from the growing demand for natural gas in key U.S. markets.
