Astronics Corporation announced that a UK court has issued a judgment in its long-running patent infringement dispute with Lufthansa Technik AG. The ruling requires Astronics to pay approximately $11.9 million as a damage award for infringement of the subject patent. This decision provides a concrete financial obligation for the company.
The company expects that any additional amounts related to other factors peripheral to the damages award, such as interest or legal fees, will be determined at a consequential hearing. This hearing is anticipated to occur in March 2025.
Astronics expects the payment of the final liability will be required in the second quarter of 2025. The patents involved in the infringement cases expired years ago, meaning the lawsuits do not restrict the company’s current business activities.
