AeroVironment announced on September 18, 2025, the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Taiwan’s National Chung-Shan Institute of Science and Technology (NCSIST). This partnership aims to collaborate on autonomous systems and technology to support Taiwan’s defense and security needs.
Initially, the focus will be on AeroVironment’s JUMP 20 and JUMP 20-X vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) fixed-wing platforms. AeroVironment will provide technical expertise, training, and sustainment processes to help NCSIST build infrastructure that enhances readiness and resilience on the island.
Future efforts under this agreement will include co-development of unmanned systems and collaboration around autonomy software. This MOU is part of an industrial participation agreement tied to recent acquisitions by the Taiwan Ministry of National Defense, including a $60.2 million foreign military sale of Switchblade 300 systems to Taiwan approved in July 2024.
