AeroVironment today announced the expansion of its Switchblade loitering munition family with three new variants: the Switchblade 600 Block 2, the Switchblade 400, and the Switchblade 300 Block 20 equipped with an explosively formed penetrator (EFP). The new lineup delivers multi‑domain, scalable lethality and mission flexibility across a range of operational echelons. The Switchblade 600 Block 2 is a next‑generation, long‑endurance loitering munition that offers 20% longer endurance, a 100+ km handoff and relay range, and an IP67 rating for maritime use. It features advanced avionics, pinpoint precision, and a secondary payload bay for multi‑mission flexibility, along with AI/ML‑enabled onboard processing, ATR, encrypted M‑Code GPS, and integrated Silvus MANET radios for resilient command and control in contested environments. The Switchblade 400 is a medium‑range, man‑portable anti‑armor system that weighs under 40 lbs, uses rocket‑assisted take‑off, and delivers lethal standoff capability in under five minutes. The Switchblade 300 Block 20 adds a modular payload bay with an EFP warhead, weighs just 7.2 lbs, and enables a single operator to deliver beyond‑line‑of‑sight lethal effects in less than two minutes with improved endurance. The new Switchblade systems integrate seamlessly with command and control platforms such as ATAK, Nett Warrior, and AV_Halo COMMAND, expanding AeroVironment’s reach into both individual soldier and larger force markets. The company is accelerating production of the Switchblade 600 from 40 to 240 units per month and plans to expand capacity to over 1,200 units per month with new facilities in Simi Valley and Salt Lake City, positioning the firm to capture growing demand from U.S. and allied forces and to strengthen its multi‑domain market leadership.
