On September 30, 2025, Aviat Networks announced a partnership with Intracom Telecom to deliver fixed wireless access (FWA) solutions that leverage the high‑capacity 28 GHz and 39 GHz millimeter‑wave bands, conforming to FCC requirements for 5G use. The collaboration centers on Intracom’s WiBAS G5 platform, the only commercially available point‑to‑multipoint FWA solution operating in those bands. The platform can deliver over 22 Gbps from a single base‑station site, using Multi‑User MIMO and Hybrid Massive Beamforming, and can cover distances of up to 5 miles or more. By entering the FWA market, Aviat expands its portfolio beyond microwave transport, offering a fiber‑like performance alternative for North American service providers. This move opens a new revenue stream and positions the company to capture demand for high‑capacity, low‑latency connectivity in both consumer and enterprise segments. Pete Smith, Aviat’s CEO, said the partnership will accelerate broadband expansion and deliver a true multi‑gigabit experience, while Intracom’s CEO highlighted the platform’s benchmark status and the partnership’s role in helping U.S. operators.
