Gulf Air finalized a firm order for 15 Boeing 787‑9 Dreamliners, with options for three additional aircraft, bringing its total 787 order book to 17 planes. The deal was announced on the sidelines of the Dubai Airshow on November 18, 2025.

The order expands Gulf Air’s long‑haul network, adding capacity on key routes to Asia, Europe, and the United States. The 787‑9’s fuel‑efficient design and passenger‑comfort features—lower cabin altitude, higher humidity, larger windows—align with Gulf Air’s sustainability and service‑quality goals.

For Boeing, the deal adds to a backlog that topped $636 billion in October 2025 and 6,527 unfilled orders. The 15‑aircraft order supports Boeing’s plan to raise 787 production to 10 units per month in 2026, after a current rate of seven per month.

The financial value of the order remains undisclosed, but the commitment signals confidence in Boeing’s wide‑body platform amid competition from the Airbus A350. Gulf Air’s Chairman Khalid Husain Taqi highlighted the partnership’s long history and the strategic importance of the Dreamliner for future growth.

Boeing’s President and CEO Stephanie Pope noted that the order “reinforces our relationship with Gulf Air and underscores the Dreamliner’s fit with the airline’s sustainability and operational excellence objectives.” The deal is expected to boost Boeing’s commercial backlog and reinforce its foothold in the Middle East market.

The announcement comes as Boeing continues to ramp up production and address past supply‑chain challenges, positioning the company to capture growing demand for efficient long‑haul aircraft.
