Best Buy and IKEA announced a new in‑store partnership that will bring IKEA’s kitchen and laundry planning services into select Best Buy locations in Texas and Florida. The pilot rollout began on November 5, 2025, with stores in Boynton Beach, Lakeland, Melbourne, Waterford Lakes, Daytona Beach, and Alamo Ranch opening the first planning centers. Additional Texas stores in Mesquite, Hulen, and South Austin are scheduled to launch the concept on November 14, with a Humble, TX location to follow later this month.

The partnership blends IKEA’s affordable, design‑focused home furnishings with Best Buy’s appliance and technology offerings. Customers can design kitchen and laundry rooms, view IKEA products, and purchase appliances such as refrigerators, ranges, and washer‑dryers—all within a single Best Buy store. IKEA products will also be available for pickup at select Best Buy locations, marking the first time IKEA is offered through another retailer in the United States.

Best Buy’s decision to partner with IKEA reflects a strategic effort to diversify beyond consumer electronics and tap into the growing home‑furnishing market. The company’s Q3 FY25 comparable sales fell 2.9% and revenue dropped to $9.4 billion from $9.7 billion, underscoring pressure on its core business. By adding a new category that drives foot traffic and leverages its strong appliance sales, Best Buy aims to offset declining electronics sales and capture a share of the resilient home‑appliance market, where it has historically performed well but has recently lagged behind competitors such as Home Depot and Lowe’s.

IKEA’s expansion into Best Buy stores aligns with its broader U.S. growth strategy, which includes opening new format stores and “plan and order” points in 2025 and 2026. The partnership provides IKEA with a new distribution channel that reaches customers who may not live near a traditional IKEA store, while offering Best Buy customers access to IKEA’s design expertise and product assortment. This collaboration is the first time IKEA products will be sold through another retailer, signaling a significant shift in its retail footprint.

The partnership is expected to create a new revenue stream for Best Buy and enhance its omnichannel capabilities. While specific financial projections are not yet disclosed, the move is positioned to strengthen Best Buy’s appliance sales and increase overall store traffic. Management has highlighted the synergy between the two brands: “This partnership brings together the best of IKEA and Best Buy to create a truly unique experience that we know customers will love,” said Patrick McGinnis, Chief Merchandising Officer at Best Buy. Javier Quiñones, CEO and Chief Sustainability Officer at IKEA U.S., added, “For the first time in the U.S., IKEA products will be available through another retailer, a big step forward on our journey to create a better everyday life for the many people.”

The collaboration underscores a broader trend of retailers seeking cross‑brand experiences to drive foot traffic and diversify product offerings. By combining IKEA’s design focus with Best Buy’s appliance expertise, the two companies aim to create a one‑stop destination for kitchen and laundry planning, potentially reshaping the home‑furnishing retail landscape in the United States.
