Becton, Dickinson and Company announced that Duncan Regional Hospital in Oklahoma became the first U.S. hospital to implement its Alaris infusion pump system with the MEDITECH electronic health record platform, completing BD’s goal of full interoperability across the three dominant EHRs—Epic, Cerner and MEDITECH. The integration is already live at more than 960 sites nationwide and is being added at a pace of roughly 12 new sites per month, underscoring the rapid adoption of the solution.
The bi‑directional data flow between Alaris pumps and MEDITECH’s Patient Care and Patient Safety modules eliminates manual programming, streamlines real‑time documentation, and enhances patient safety by ensuring accurate medication delivery. These operational efficiencies translate into lower error rates and reduced clinician workload, key drivers of BD’s strategy to embed connected care into everyday workflows.
BD’s infusion pump business has been a cornerstone of its Medical segment, which reported an 11.2% revenue increase in fiscal 2025 Q4. The Alaris system, now cleared by the FDA in July 2023 after a comprehensive hardware and software upgrade, has been a major contributor to that growth. By extending interoperability to MEDITECH, BD expands its addressable market, positioning itself to capture a larger share of the infusion pump market and reinforce its “BD2025” focus on innovation, category leadership and operational simplification.
The milestone also signals BD’s continued investment in patient‑safety technology. With the integration now available across all three leading EHRs, hospitals can more easily adopt Alaris pumps, potentially accelerating capital installations and strengthening BD’s competitive advantage over rivals that offer limited interoperability. The move aligns with industry trends toward integrated care platforms and supports BD’s broader goal of driving revenue growth through connected solutions.
