Franklin Resources, Inc. reported preliminary month-end assets under management (AUM) of $1.58 trillion at December 31, 2024, a decrease from $1.65 trillion at November 30, 2024. This decline was primarily due to negative market impacts and significant long-term net outflows.
The firm experienced long-term net outflows of $18.9 billion for the month, with Western Asset Management (WAM) contributing $38.0 billion to these outflows. WAM's AUM stood at $272.2 billion at month-end, reflecting continued client withdrawals.
However, excluding WAM, Franklin Resources recorded positive long-term net inflows of $19.1 billion for the month, indicating strength in other asset classes. Despite this, the substantial outflows from WAM continue to be a major drag on the firm's overall asset growth.
