The Buckle, Inc. announced that comparable store net sales for the five-week period ended October 5, 2024, decreased by 4.3 percent compared to the same period in the prior year. Total net sales for the fiscal month also saw a decline of 2.5 percent, reaching $100.6 million, down from $103.1 million in the previous year.
Year-to-date comparable store net sales for the 35-week period ended October 5, 2024, fell by 6.1 percent, while total net sales for this period decreased by 5.1 percent to $750.5 million from $790.9 million. The men's business experienced a 5.5 percent decrease in sales, accounting for 52.0 percent of total sales, and the women's business saw a 1.5 percent decrease, representing 48.0 percent of total sales.
Accessory sales increased by 0.5 percent, but footwear sales declined significantly by 24.0 percent for the fiscal month. Units per transaction decreased by 2.0 percent, and the average transaction value decreased by 1.0 percent. The company opened two new stores during fiscal September in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and Fort Worth, Texas, maintaining 443 retail stores in 42 states.
