Baker Hughes announced on October 15, 2024, a contract award to supply advanced compression solutions to Saipem for TotalEnergies' all-electric Kaminho Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) project in Angola. This contract was booked in the third quarter of 2024.
The company's centrifugal BCL compressor and Integrated Compressor Line (ICL) technology were selected for their ability to minimize emissions, eliminate routine flaring, and reinject associated gas into the reservoir for storage. The Kaminho project is the first large deepwater development in the Kwanza basin, with production expected to reach 70,000 barrels of oil per day by 2028.
This award contributes to Baker Hughes' momentum in the offshore segment, building on previous contracts for power generation systems for two all-electric FPSO units in Latin America. The project exemplifies sustainable energy development by leveraging proven technology to lower its overall carbon footprint.
