Baker Hughes announced on June 11, 2025, that it will provide Equinor plug and abandonment (P&A) services in the Oseberg East field on Norway’s continental shelf. This award marks the first project in a multi-year frame agreement for integrated well services.
The agreement is based on Baker Hughes' Mature Assets Solutions portfolio and aims to enable Equinor to drive efficiencies and industrialize P&A operations through end-to-end integration. Baker Hughes' team will lead the integrated P&A campaign, managing planning and execution across the North Sea field.
This contract reinforces Baker Hughes' commitment to providing economical and reliable solutions for responsibly abandoning wells, allowing operators to maximize asset value. The establishment of a new Center of Excellence for P&A work in the North Sea, based within OFSE's operations in Bergen and Stavanger, will further strengthen this capability.
