Opti9 will serve as the exclusive Canadian channel for Backblaze B2 Reserve and the Powered by Backblaze program.
As part of this partnership, Backblaze plans to open a new data region in Canada, located in Toronto, Ontario. This expansion addresses the growing demand for in-country data storage and compliance with local data sovereignty requirements for Canadian businesses. The new data center is expected to be available to customers in the first quarter of 2025.
The Toronto data center maintains a security program that addresses SOC 1 Type 2, SOC 2 Type 2, ISO 27001, PCI DSS, and HIPAA requirements. This strategic move enhances Backblaze's global footprint and its ability to deliver open, interoperable cloud solutions without the limitations and high pricing often associated with traditional cloud platforms.
