Brenmiller Energy Ltd. announced today it is developing a new version of its bGen™ thermal energy storage (TES) platform technology specifically for nuclear small modular reactors (SMRs). This initiative targets the growing energy demands of computing and AI infrastructure.

Nuclear power is increasingly recognized as a next-generation source to support energy independence and decarbonization at scale, and it requires storage solutions. Brenmiller's bGen™ system, already installed in Italy with Enel, can serve as a foundation for this new development.

The bGen™ system architecture supports passive heat absorption, load following, and decay heat removal, offering potential for major safety improvements in SMR integration. This strategic move positions Brenmiller to capitalize on the nuclear resurgence and its associated energy storage needs.
