Bitcoin Depot Discloses Data Breach Affecting 27,000 Customers

Bitcoin Depot disclosed on July 10, 2025, that a data breach from June 23, 2024, exposed personal information of almost 27,000 customers. The company revealed this information following the completion of a law enforcement investigation on June 13. The exposed data included customers' names, phone numbers, and driver's license numbers.

The company also stated that the breach could have included addresses, birthdays, and email addresses. Bitcoin Depot reported that there is currently no evidence of customer information being misused.

This disclosure comes amidst a challenging regulatory environment for the Bitcoin ATM industry, with New Zealand introducing plans to ban cryptocurrency ATMs and Spokane, Washington, having already banned them.
