BWX Technologies, Inc. announced that Thomas Burns, Jr. will assume the role of president and program manager for BWXT's joint venture overseeing the U.S. Department of Energy's liquid waste cleanup contract at the Savannah River Site in South Carolina.
Mr. Burns, currently the vice president and chief engineer on BWXT's Savannah River Mission Completion (SRMC) joint venture, brings over 25 years of nuclear and engineering experience to this leadership position. His expertise spans the management, design, construction, and operation of complex nuclear material processing and waste disposition facilities.
Effective June 7, this appointment ensures experienced leadership for the critical environmental remediation mission at the Savannah River Site. The SRMC joint venture, which also includes Amentum and Fluor, has delivered consistent safety and operational accomplishments since assuming the contract in 2022.
