Cardinal Health completed its acquisition of Solaris Health, a leading urology medical‑services organization, on 2025-11-03. The transaction adds Solaris Health’s network of more than 750 urology providers and 250 practice locations in 14 states to Cardinal Health’s multi‑specialty management services organization, The Specialty Alliance.
The deal values Solaris Health at approximately $1.9 billion and is financed through a mix of cash on hand and new debt that Cardinal Health plans to retire over 18‑24 months. The acquisition expands The Specialty Alliance’s footprint to roughly 3,000 providers across 32 states and positions the Urology Alliance to capture a larger share of specialty therapy demand.
Cardinal Health’s Q1 FY2026 results showed revenue of $64 billion, up 22 % from the prior year, and non‑GAAP diluted earnings per share of $2.55, up 36 %. Management indicated the Solaris Health acquisition is expected to be slightly accretive to earnings in the first year after closing.
The acquisition follows a series of recent moves in the urology space, including the purchases of Urology America, Potomac Urology, and Academic Urology & Urogynecology, and a majority stake in GI Alliance for $2.8 billion. Cardinal Health also acquired Advanced Diabetes Supply for $1.1 billion.
Gary Kirsh, MD, CEO of Solaris Health, will transition to a senior advisor role at Cardinal Health, while the company’s existing leadership will continue to operate under the Urology Alliance banner within The Specialty Alliance.
The transaction aligns with Cardinal Health’s strategy to build a vertically integrated care platform that delivers high‑margin specialty services, addressing a shortage of urologists and capitalizing on an aging population that drives demand for urology procedures.
