Westinghouse Electric Company announced plans to construct 10 large AP1000 nuclear reactors in the United States, with construction slated to begin by 2030. Interim CEO Dan Sumner conveyed this plan to President Donald Trump during a roundtable discussion in Pittsburgh.

Each AP1000 reactor is designed to generate enough electricity to power over 750,000 homes. The initiative is projected to create $75 billion of economic value across the U.S., with $6 billion specifically in Pennsylvania. This aligns with President Trump's executive orders aiming to quadruple U.S. nuclear power by 2050.

To enhance efficiency and repeatability in construction, Westinghouse has partnered with Google to utilize AI tools for the AP1000 builds. This strategic move by Westinghouse, in which Cameco holds a 49% interest, positions it as a key player in the U.S. nuclear energy expansion and represents a significant growth opportunity for Cameco.
