On January 14, 2025, Central Puerto S.A. and YPF Energía Eléctrica S.A. (YPF Luz) announced the signing of a strategic agreement. This partnership aims to jointly study and develop a significant electrical interconnection project in the Argentine Puna region.

The project focuses on supplying clean and efficient electricity to the mining sector and local communities in the Pastos Grandes and Hombre Muerto salt flats, with potential expansion to the Carachi Pampa salt flat. This joint effort is estimated to involve an investment ranging from $250 million to $400 million.

The development under evaluation includes the construction of approximately 140 km of electric power transmission line, with a potential extension up to 350 km. This collaboration marks the first time two major electricity generation companies will jointly evaluate such a large-scale electrical infrastructure project.
