Churchill Downs Incorporated announced an $80-90 million renovation of the existing grandstand at Churchill Downs Racetrack, focusing on the construction of the new Starting Gate Club and Pavilion. This project aims to enhance the guest experience for the 151st Kentucky Derby in May 2025.
The renovation will replace existing outdoor aluminum bleachers with 8,300 new seating options, offering improved comfort and style, including covered and uncovered stadium-style seats and coveted rail boxes. The first floor of the Starting Gate Club will feature new permanent concessions, bars, and strategically placed wagering windows.
The third floor's existing box seats under the SAP Starting Gate Suites will also receive substantial enhancements, providing improved amenities for 2,800 guests. This investment reflects the company's commitment to world-class hospitality and premium seating options, while honoring the historic significance of the property.
