Cigna Healthcare announced a partnership with Headspace that will launch on January 1 2026, giving more than 7 million employer‑sponsored members access to a suite of free, science‑backed mental‑health resources through their existing benefits package.

The Headspace for Cigna platform will feature custom content tailored to Cigna’s member demographics, daily guided meditations, sleepcasts, focus music, and cognitive‑behavioral therapy (CBT)–guided programs. Members can also request a referral to an in‑network clinician directly from the app, with the referral routed through Cigna’s Evernorth behavioral‑health network for seamless care coordination.

Cigna’s decision to partner with Headspace aligns with its broader strategy to strengthen behavioral‑health services and differentiate its employer plans. The company’s Q3 2025 results—adjusted EPS of $7.83 and revenue of $69.7 billion, both above analyst expectations—provide the financial foundation for this investment and signal confidence in long‑term cost savings from early mental‑health engagement.

Headspace, which has raised $178 million across ten funding rounds and maintains a valuation of $320 million, backs its platform with more than 70 peer‑reviewed studies. The company reports a 37 % reduction in anxiety symptoms after eight weeks and a 32 % decrease in depression symptoms after 30 days, metrics that underscore the potential health and productivity gains for Cigna’s member base.

The partnership places Cigna ahead of competitors such as UnitedHealth, Anthem, and Aetna, many of whom are also exploring digital mental‑health solutions. Headspace competes with platforms like Peloton, Spring Health, and Lyra Health, and the collaboration expands its reach to a large employer‑sponsored audience, positioning Cigna as a leader in digital behavioral health.

"Cigna Healthcare has long been a leader in helping people navigate and access behavioral care when they need it most, and now we’re expanding our capabilities to support everyday mental health challenges," said Eva Borden, Chief Product Officer, U.S. Employer. "By collaborating with Headspace and offering its clinically validated tools and resources, we’re helping our customers prevent issues before they start and encouraging earlier engagement in mental wellness." Tom Pickett, CEO of Headspace, added, "Everyone deserves support before stress, anxiety and depression spiral, and the partnership gives employers a proactive entry point to care."
