Accelera by Cummins hosted Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and other government officials at its state-of-the-art electrolyzer manufacturing facility in Guadalajara, Spain. The visit highlighted Accelera's crucial role in advancing the European Union and Spain's energy transition towards a sustainable future.
The 260,000 square-foot proton exchange membrane (PEM) electrolyzer manufacturing facility began production in April 2024 and has created 91 highly skilled jobs. It boasts an immediate capacity of 500 megawatts (MW), scalable to 1-gigawatt (GW), positioning Accelera as a leading electrolyzer manufacturer in Spain.
The facility is currently producing a 100-megawatt (MW) system for bp’s green hydrogen plant in Lingen, Germany. The plant integrates 3,000 rooftop solar panels, a geothermal heating and cooling system, and rainwater harvesting, enabling up to 70% of its energy needs to be met on-site.
