Cummins Introduces X10 Mid-Bore Engine for 2027, Replacing L9 and X12 Platforms

Cummins Inc. introduced the X10, a new mid-bore heavy-duty engine designed to replace both the L9 and X12 engine platforms, with a launch scheduled for 2027. The X10 is part of the Cummins HELM™ platforms, offering customers flexibility in fuel type while delivering heavy-duty performance in a midsize package. The X10 will provide up to 450 horsepower and 1,650 lb-ft of torque for heavy-duty applications, and up to 380 horsepower and 1,250 lb-ft of torque for medium-duty applications. It boasts a class-leading power-to-weight ratio and increased Power Take-Off (PTO) capability of 590 lb-ft continuous and up to 664 lb-ft intermittent. Equipped with Cummins’ comprehensive suite of digital technologies, including Acumen® smart computing hardware, the X10 will offer remote diagnostics and advanced over-the-air updates.
