Canadian National Railway (CNI) announced on September 8, 2025, that it has expanded its firefighting capabilities with new assets and upgrades to its specialized fire suppression fleet. This initiative strengthens its ability to respond to wildfires.

In 2025, CN introduced two independent firefighting railcars, named Oceanus and Amphitrite. Each of these new railcars has the capacity to hold 25,000 gallons of water, significantly boosting CN's on-site water reserves.

These enhancements are designed to protect CN's network infrastructure and support local firefighters during severe wildfire seasons. The investment underscores CN's commitment to operational resilience and safety across its extensive network.
