CenterPoint Energy announced significant progress in Phase Two of its Greater Houston Resiliency Initiative (GHRI), including the installation of more than 750 automated reliability devices in January. These devices are designed to reduce both sustained interruptions and restoration times during storm events. The company plans to install a total of 4,500 of these 'self-healing' devices across the Greater Houston area by June 1, 2025, to minimize impact to customers during outages. This deployment is part of ongoing efforts to build the most resilient coastal grid in the country. In addition to the automated devices, CenterPoint has installed over 11,000 stronger, more storm-resilient poles across the region in five months. The company also continues to clear thousands of miles of higher-risk vegetation and underground more power lines, with these actions expected to lead to over 125 million fewer outage minutes annually for customers.
