CenterPoint Energy is mobilizing its resources in response to forecasts indicating significant wintry precipitation and accumulation for the Greater Houston area starting Monday evening. The company has secured an additional 1,200 mutual aid workers who will arrive by Monday to support potential restoration efforts.
Three staging sites are being set up, and crews are being pre-positioned across the service territory to respond safely and quickly if needed. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Southeast Texas from Monday evening through Tuesday evening.
ERCOT has also issued a Weather Watch for January 20-23 due to extreme cold weather, higher electrical demand, and potential for lower reserves. CenterPoint's cold weather readiness plan includes inspecting and testing critical equipment and deploying cold weather mitigations across its infrastructure.
