CenterPoint Energy is encouraging customers in its Indiana North natural gas territory to prepare for an increase in natural gas bills this heating season. Natural gas commodity costs are projected to increase over last year's heating season due to anticipated demand growth.
Based on projected natural gas commodity costs and normal winter weather, customers can expect to pay an average of $107 per month over the five-month heating season from November through March. This compares to last year's average bill of approximately $97 per month for the same period.
CenterPoint does not profit from the overall cost of natural gas, as it is passed on to customers at cost. The company is highlighting available payment assistance options and energy-saving tips to help customers manage their bills and mitigate the impact of these projected increases.
